Pen Pal
PenPalMan, how do you see
a simple wordy gal like me?
PenPalMan, when do I show
that I’m your love. How will you know?
PenPalMan, I’m up all night
these words I use, they must be right.
PenPalMan, please don’t be late,
the mailman comes at half past eight.
PenPalMan, your words like birds
the sweetest sounds I’ve ever heard.
PenPalMan, you love me too?
Are you sincere? Are you crew blue?
PenPalMan, how could you know?
I wished for you so long ago.
PenPalMan, we are okay,
because we had our wedding day.
PenPalMan, there’s one small thing
the people there don’t like your ring.
PenPalMan, they say our vows
are useless, like some bleating cows.
PenPalMan, how can they see
that you and I already be!
PenPalMan, you are the one,
my midnight moon, my dawning sun.
PenPalMan, you won’t want more,
I’ll wait outside your prison door.
PenPalMan, you hear me sing?
to me you are my everything.
PenPalMan, a tiny truth,
that I neglected to forsooth,
PenPalMan, how did I fail
to tell you I’m in county jail.
